DATA FROM 1850 CENSUS, OHIO, CHAMPAIGN CO., JACKSON TWP:

Ambrose is age 58 and a farmer. Elizabeth is age 52. Both were born in Virginia. Living at home are Samson age 20, Harvey age 18, Lysander age 16, Harker age 14, William age 11, and Emaline age 11. All the children were born in Ohio. The three oldest sons list their occupation at “farmer”, but all the children have attended school during the year.

1860 CENSUS, OHIO, CHAMPAIGN CO., JACKSON TWP:

Ambrose Grafton is 67, Elizabeth is 60. He is a farmer with $9000 real estate, $2600 other. I’m puzzled by the names living with them, but think it may be his youngest son William M. (but using his middle name) along with his wife and 3 young children.
