Misc. Notes:

“He was born before 1671 in New Netherland. His date and place of birth are based on the fact his parents returned to Holland in 1671 and he appears to have been born prior to their leaving Brooklyn. He was christened about 1671 in New Netherlands. Rosalie Fellows Bailey in her book "Pre-Revolutionary Dutch Houses and Families in Northern New Jersey and Southern New York" on page 446 states that Dirck was baptized March 3, 1672 in New York. Since it is known that Aert and his family had departed for Holland prior to that time, the date given by Ms. Bailey obviously is incorrect. A more likely date would be 3/3/1671. However no baptismal
record has been located and so his birth and baptismal date remain a matter of conjecture except to say that all of the evidence appears to support his being born in New York prior to his parents moving to Holland. Dirck died before 5 May 1716 in Raritan, Somerset, NJ.”

He went to Raritan (Sumerville) about 1699 and owned a farm, purchased in 1709 from his father-in-law, Peter Van Neste. Dirck Middagh and wife were witnesses at Raritan, March 8, 1699; Cathelina Middagh, was witness at same place Apr. 30, 1727.
