General information
on John Packer, and all of his ancestry, is taken from:

The
connection to my own family is through John Packer's daughter, Rebecca Packer,
who the above site reports as having married John Thomas. The birth date they
give for their daughter, Sarah Thomas, matches perfectly records from other
sources. Further, census information puts John Packer and his family in the
right places. In my mind the connection seems fairly solid.
I note that
both the PACKER family and the THOMAS family come from York Co., PA, and settle
in Columbiana Co., OH. Further, there is more than one marriage between Packers
and Thomases. This of course includes our Rebecca Packer, who married John
Thomas. And Rebecca’s brother, Hugh PACKER, married an Elizabeth Ann THOMAS and
named their first child John Thomas PACKER.

named in the will of his father, establishing connection to this area. Will for
Moses PACKER, dated 19 Jan 1797, proved 4 Dec 1797. Executors: Philip and
George Packer. Children: Philip, Lydia, George, Hannah wife of Abraham
Underwood, john Moses, James and Aaron.

John Packer
has 2 white males under 10, 2 white males 26-44, 1 white female under 10, 2
white felames 26-44.
1810 CENSUS, PENNSYLVANIA, YORK CO.,
FAIRVIEW TWP:
There is a
John Packer, of about the right age. This is almost certainly the correct
family.
1820 CENSUS, OHIO, COLUMBIANA CO.,
BUTLER TWP:
A John
Packer, of about the right age, with about the right children, is found.
1840 CENSUS, OHIO, COLUMBIANA CO.,
KNOX TWP:
John Packer,
age 70-80, is found with a wife age 60-70. There are two adult males 20-30 and
one adult female 20-30 in the house, presumably children and spouses. His son
John Jr. is also in the township, age 30-40, with six children.
1850 CENSUS, OHIO, COLUMBIANA CO.,
KNOX TWP:
John Packer,
age 84, is found living with his son, Michael. John’s age is not quite what was
expected, but Michael, his wife, and his children correlate perfectly with the
above PACKER web page.

I observe
that there were a lot of ESTEP families in Columbiana Co., Ohio, at this time.
The youngest daughter of this John Packer and Katherine Estep , Jane, marries a
Joseph ESTEP. However research suggests that this Joseph Estep came from
Maryland, so probably no relation???
BOTTOM LINE: I know nothing about the ancestry of Katherine ESTEP.
