John K. Robinson, oldest son of Moody and Mary Robinson, was born in Victoria township, Knox county, Illinois 14 May 1839, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. U.S. Ives, on the farm adjoining his birthplace, 21 July 1926, aged 87 years, two months and seven days. The deceased grew to manhood on the Robinson homestead in Victoria township.
At the age of 21 years, Mr. Robinson went overland with a wagon train of pioneers to Pike's Peak, in Colorado. He was married in the fall of 1861 to Mary Ann Reed, of DeKalb, Illinois, who died 18 October 1865. 18 February 1868, he was united in marriage to Martha J. Aten, of West Jersey, who preceeded him in death 3 October 1917.
Mr. Robinson moved to Garden Grove, Iowa, in the fall of 1869, where he made his home until 1893, when he returned to Illinois.
To this union was born five children, all of whom are living. They are Frank, Milford and Mrs. Mabel Ives, of Victoria, Illinois, Clarence Robinson of Williamsfield, Illinois and Perry A. of Humeston, Iowa. He also leaves three brothers, William P. Robinson, of Riverside, California; Moody Robinson, of Fullerton, California; Enoch Robinson, of Lombard, Illinois.
There are nineteen grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren, besides a large number of relatives and friends, who will miss hime.
The funeral was held Friday afternoon at two o'clock, and was in charge of Reverend A.O. Jones. The song service was rendered by Mrs. Cecil Cree and Miss Blanche Peterson, with Miss Loraine Jones at the piano.
The pallbearers were Peter Strom, Frank Peterson, Theodore Johnson, W.A. Sanquist, Noble Olmsted, Carl Brott, J.L. Ironburg, and Alf Sandquist.
The church was filled with friends and relatives, including Perry Robinson, of Humeston, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Milo Griffin, Mrs. Merle German, Arthur Aten, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Robinson and family, John Robinson and wife, Mrs. Sarah Ann Sloan, all of Williamsfield; Ira Rice and family, Jessie Rice and family and Rob Sterett of Watage; Mr. and Mrs. Elry Rice of Galva; Enoch Robinson, of Lombard, Illinois; E.R. Mosher and family, Mrs. Pearl Kennedy, of Galesburg; Mrs. Ed Wiley and daughter and son John of West Jersey.
Burial was in Victoria cemetery.
