OBITUARY:
Carrie Mae Coffey, daughter of James and Martha Abel, was born November 7, 1886 in Wayne County, Iowa and passed away December 2, 1965 at the Wayne County Hospital at Corydon, being at the time of her death, 79 years and 25 days of age. She lived her entire life in and near the town of Humeston, attending schools and for many years, a member of the Humeston First Baptist Church.
On November 20, 1901 she was united in marriage to Clyde Coffey. To this union five children were born: one of whom died in infancy. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ila Rickert of Humeston; three sons, Homer Coffey of Humeston, Mardis of Garden Grove and Glen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three daughters-in-law, Helen, Juanita and Kathryn; one son-in-law, Dean Rickert; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Esther Williams of Humeston; one brother, Jess of Cambria, besides a number of nephews and nieces and a host of friends and neighbors who mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Maude, and four brothers, Claude, Boyd, Roy and Billy and her husband.
On November 20, 1951, she and her husband celebrated their Golden Wedding with Open House and all their children were present along with many relatives and friends. She loved home and was always ready to help anyone in time of sickness and need. The last few months, she has been in failing health and had been making her home at Marie’s Boarding Home in Humeston where she was tenderly and lovingly cared for.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock from Hutchinson’s Funeral Home in Humeston. Rev. B. E. Neilson officiated. Burial was at Green Bay Cemetery.
