Wife Rebecca J is age 40, she was born in IA, her father in OH, her mother in IA. All the children were born in Iowa. At home are Benjamin B (11), Sarah C (9), Charles (6), George W (4), and James A (10 months).

1900 census, Bow Creek, Rooks, Kansas: Hardin is age 67, born Feb 1833 in Ohio. His father was born in PA, his mother in MA (note he said “Ohio” in 1880!). He is widowed, lives with his sister Lydia, age 64.
