1830 CENSUS, CHARLESTOWN, MIDDLESEX, MA: In the household of Thomas Teel: Thomas, Susan, and their 5 children born before 1930 fit perfectly. However there are extra people here. There is a female, age 70-79, who is probably Tom’s mother (Tom’s mother would be age 73 - she is a widow, and does not appear in the census as head of own household.) And there are two additional males - one age 10-14, and one age 20-29 - possibly brothers of Tom or Susan?

1840 CENSUS, CHARLESTOWN, MIDDLESEX, MA: There are 13 people in the family of Thomas Teel, and the age and sex distribution seems about right. Our “Abner” would be one of the free white males under age 5.

1845 CHURCH ACTIVITIES (PER 1907 HISTORY OF THE TOWN OF ARLINGTON BY CHARLES SYMMES PARKER): The Orthodox Congregational Church of West Cambridge (now Arlington) was organized with 34 members on 14 December 1842. The list of members included “Jonathan Teel and his wife Mrs. Lydia Teel; Thomas Teel and his wife Mrs. Susan Frost Teel”.

1850 CENSUS, SOMERVILLE, MIDDLESEX, MA: Thos Teel (age 51) and wife Susan (48) are found with children James (17), Danl W (15), Susan (14), Abner G (12), Rebecca (10), Mary (8), and Ellen J (7). He is a farmer, with real estate worth $3200.

1855 MASSACHUSETTS STATE CENSUS: Family present in Somerville.

1860 CENSUS, WESTON, MIDDLESEX, MA: Thomas Teele (age 60) is there with Susanna (58) and children Rebecca (20, Mary (18), Daniel W (25), Fanny (23), and Abner G (20). Thomas is a farmer. (I don’t recognize “Fanny”.)

1870 CENSUS, WESTON, MIDDLESEX, MA: Susan is dead by this time, but Thomas Teele is age 71 and clearly the head of household. The primary “population” is L. D. Moore (36) (indexed as “Moose”), his wife Susan Moore (age 34) and their four children. (Susan Frost Teel married Luther Dimick Moore in 1856.)
