Mrs. Ruth C. Coffey, 78, of Niley Cook Road, Blowing Rock, died Sunday evening, Jan. 26, 2003, at Davant Rehabilitation & Extended Care Facility. She was born Aug. 22, 1924, a daughter of the late Will and Bessie Townsend Coffey. Mrs. Coffey was a homemaker and a member of Middle Fork Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Jean Auton and husband, Howard, of Blowing Rock and Irene Miller and husband, Roger, of Hickory; one sister, Cora Lee Greer of Lenoir; four brothers, Jack Coffey and John Coffey of Blowing Rock and Tom Coffey of Laytown and Troy Abner Coffey of Boone. Three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roby Clint Coffey; one brother, Joe Coffey; and two sisters, Nancy Elizabeth Coffey and Lula Coffey Church. Services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Middle Fork Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Elliott Hayes. Burial will follow in the Middle Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1-2 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Austin & Barnes Funeral Home is serving the Coffey family.
