Mr. Coffey was born March 3, 1923, in Staunton, and was the son of the late Massie Lee and Nettie Mae Rife Coffey. He is survived by his children, Barbara J. Morris of Goshen, Robert L. Coffey, Peggy J. Moore and Doris A. Baugh, all of Staunton, Charles F. Coffey of Stuarts Draft, and Joseph A. Coffey of Bridgewater; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Coffey was born March 18, 1922, in Batesville, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Allen and Margaret Jean Newton Maupin. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was employed by Stonewall Jackson Hotel before retiring. On Aug. 20, 1945, she married Franklin Lee Coffey, who survives. They were married 57 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Barbara Jean Morris, Robert Lee Coffey, Peggy Jane Moore, Doris Ann Baugh, Charles Franklin Coffey, and Joseph Allen Coffey; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and a nephew. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. The Rev. Clay Sterrett will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Thursday at the Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home and at the Coffey home at other times.
