Coffeys Facing Murder Charges

Boone, April 28.--(AP)--First degree murder charges stood today against Blaine Coffey, former state representative, and Dillard Coffey in connection with the fatal shooting last December 27 of Raymond Dellinger near Blowing Rock.

At a habeas corpus hearing yesterday, Judge A. Hall Johnston refused the defendants privilege of bond. He appeared in the census on 23 April 1940 in Watauga Twp., Watauga Co., NC.¹⁹⁸⁵⁹ Austin died of chronic nephritis on 28 August 1970 at the age of 83 at Blowing Rock Hospital in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC and was buried at Boone Fork Community Cemetery in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC on 30 August 1970.^{19860,19861,19862}

Former Watauga Legislator Dies

Austin Blaine Coffey, 81, former Watauga County Representative in the General Assembly and a retired farmer, died Friday in Blowing Rock Hospital, where he had been a patient several months.

Mr. Coffey was born in Watauga County to David and Caroline Coffey. he represented Watauga County in the Legislature three terms, beginning with the 1917 session.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Clyde L. Dula of Blowing Rock, two sons, the Rev. Murray and Hardin Coffey of Blowing Rock, a brother, O. J. Coffey of Blowing Rock and eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Blue Ridge Advent Christian Church with elder A. O. Turnbow officiating. Burial was in the Boone Fork Cemetery.

Hailey died on 6 July 1933 at the age of 45 in Watauga Co., NC and was buried at Boone Fork Community Cemetery in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC.^19867,19868
