Church Funeral

Lenoir, Oct. 29--Funeral services for Mrs. J. C. Church, 65, of Blowing Rock, who died Thursday afternoon at a Blowing Rock hospital following an illness of several months, will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the home with the Rev. S. E. Gragg officiating.

Burial will be in Boone Fork Cemetery.

Surviving are her husband, two stepdaughters, two brothers, and a half-brother.

Vera Esther Coffey and Walter Lenoir "Watt" Sims were married. Walter Lenoir "Watt" Sims, son of Elisha Sims and Charity G. Hayes, was born on 2 October 1883 in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC. He lived with his widowed mother in Watauga Co., NC on 4 June 1900. He appeared in the census in 1910 in Manhattan, New York.¹⁹⁸⁷⁸ Watt arrived in the US on 25 September 1915 from the Panama, CZ aboard the "Advance"¹⁹⁸⁷⁹

Lenoir, May 12--Funeral services for J. C. Church of Route 1, Blowing Rock, who died Friday evening at a Blowing Rock hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the residence, with the Rev. Marshall Setzer of Lenoir and the Rev. Bob Shores of Blowing Rock officiating.

Burial will be in Boone Fork Cemetery. Church was born in Watauga County on July 12, 1877. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Leslie Coffey and Mrs. Herman Coffey both of Blowing Rock; a sister, Mrs. J. A. McLean of Connelly Springs; a brother, Ellis Church of Collettsville; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
