James Garfield Coffey was born on 10 July 1882 in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC.¹⁹⁸⁴⁶ He registered for the WWI draft on 12 September 1918 in Raleigh Co., WV.¹⁹⁸⁴⁷ He registered for the WWII draft on 27 April 1942 in Charleston, Kanawha Co., WV.¹⁹⁸⁴⁸ James died of lung cancer on 6 December 1955 at the age of 73 at the home of Mrs. Violet Belcher in Malden, Kanawah Co., WV and was buried at Belcher Cemetery in Kanawha Co., WV on 9 December 1955.¹⁹⁸⁴⁹
