Born Nov. 29, 1912, in Watauga County, she was a daughter of the late Columbus Silas Coffey and Lilly Victoria Hatley Coffey. Viola was a member of High Peak Baptist Church and a retired employee of Alba-Waldensian Hosiery. She was an avid gardener and loved cats. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Viola is survived by a granddaughter, Kimberly Cook Seagle and husband, Joey, of Valdese; great-granddaughter, Amberly Seagle; step-daughter, Sylvia Morris and husband, Clayton, of Emporia, Va.; and brother, James Coffey and wife, Bonnie, of West Jefferson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Cullins; daughter, Linda Cullins Cook; step-daughters, Frances Etheridge, Virginia Hedgepath and Blanche Burm; and a number of brothers and sisters. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of College Pines for the exceptional care given to Viola during her stay. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, at High Peak Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Purcell officiating. Burial will follow at Drexel Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to High Peak Baptist Church, 3073 High Peak Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
