He was born in Caldwell County to the late Charlie and Julia Knight Coffey. Mr. Coffey was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Army. Survivors include his children, Robert Coffey and Sharon Wilson of Lenoir, Clarice Cannon, Ralph Hartson of Banner Elk, and Dean Coffey of Newland, Lori Pennington, JoAnn Roup, Patricia Coffey and Eddie Coffey, all of Ohio; two sisters, Martha Stapleton and Effie Coffey, both of Lenoir. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Military graveside services will be conducted Saturday, June 3, 2006, at 2 p.m. at White Springs Cemetery.
