He was preceded in death by one son, Merrill Hampton; his parents, Bascom and Julia Coffey Hampton; three sisters, Dorothy Taylor, Cleota Crowe, and Ollie Mac Hampton; and three brothers, Bill Hampton, Jim Hampton, and O.M. Hampton, Sr. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ora Trivette Hampton, of the home; one daughter, Miss Sissy Hampton of Blowing Rock; two sons, Mack N. Hampton and wife, Judy, of Boone, and Morris D. Hampton and wife, Susie, of Blowing Rock; one grandson, Mackie Isaacs and wife, Shannon; five granddaughters, Martha Pate and husband, Chris, Christy Tester and husband, Mike, Brandy Hayes, Jennifer Hampton, and Julie Hampton; four great-grandchildren, Jordan Isaacs, Tyler Isaacs, Eli Pate and Connor Pate; one brother-in-law, Ford Taylor of Boone; one sister-in-law, Ruby Hampton of Boone; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 12, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Deerfield United Methodist Church. The body lied in state from 1 until 2 p.m. Officiating was the Rev. Joe McMurray and Dr. Robert C. Peurifoy. Burial followed at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery in Boone. The family received friends Sunday evening at the Hampton Funeral Home from 7 until 9 p.m. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to Deerfield United Methodist Church Building Fund, P. O.
