David died on 6 April 1995 at the age of 79 at Sloop Memorial Hospital in Crossnore, Altamont Twp., Avery Co., NC died and was buried at New Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Gragg, Avery Co., NC on 8 April 1995.^{19463,19464,19465} David Coffey David C. Coffey, 79, of Cary's Flat community, died Thursday, April 6, 1995 in Sloop Memorial Hospital in Crossnore. He was a native of Avery County and the son of the late Julius and Aster Dellinger Coffey. Mr. Coffey was a member of New Hopewell Baptist Church and had worked for Maxwell-Royal Furniture of Hickory. He is survived by one sister, Edith Vines of Cary's Flat. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at New Hopewell Baptist Church with the Revs. Douglas Bare and David Benfield officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 tonight at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Newland. [David was blind and apparently never married]
