Alice died on 16 January 2009 at the age of 85 in Kingsport, Sullivan Co., TN and was buried at East Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Kingsport, Sullivan Co., TN.30854 Alice Coffey, Kingsport Times-News, Jan. 16, 2009 Kingsport Alice Mae Rogers Coffey, 85, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2009 while surrounded by her granddaughters. She was born to Abe & Amanda Webb Rogers on September 26, 1923 in Sullivan County and lived there all of her life. Prior to becoming a homemaker, she worked at Eastman Chemical Company. In 1946 she married her “sweet heart” the late Clarence Earl Coffey. And as she lived alone the last 32 years, she proved True Love and God’s Mercy never fade. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Phillips; five brothers, Lloyd, Willard, Raymond, Charles and Gordon Rogers. Surviving are her two sons, Wayne Coffey and wife Shirley; Terry Coffey and wife Virginia, all of Kingsport; six grandchildren, Robin Swain and husband David, Christi Westmoreland and husband Bo, David Coffey, Jonathan Coffey and wife Candice, Jeff Fair and wife Laura, all of Kingsport; Miranda Jones and husband Mike of Rogersville; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; two sisters, Dorothy Arnold and husband Charles; Joan Simpson and husband R.C.; one sister-in-law, Gladys Rogers; one very special niece Carol Johnson along with several nieces and nephews and a special friend Marguerite Bailey. She is also survived by her Church family. She was a member of Victory Apostolic Church and had told many children about the Lord during 22 years of teaching Sunday School. She was loved and will be missed by all of her many friends, family and neighbors. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 18 from 4 to 6 pm with a 6 pm service at East Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Ellis Crawford and Bishop Hagan Webb and Elder Bo Westmoreland officiating. Music will be provided by the Webb Family, Austin Westmoreland, Alisha Reed and Nicole O’Neal. Graveside services will be Monday, January 19, 2009, where friends and family are asked to meet at the graveside by 12:45. Pallbearers will be David Coffey, Jonathan Coffey, Jeff Fair, Bo Westmoreland, David Swain and Mike Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Gregg, Anthony Gregg, Ken Johnson and R.C. Simpson.
