Miriam Elizabeth "Penny" Teague and James Clarence "Pete" Coffey were married. James Clarence "Pete" Coffey, son of Thomas Leroy Coffey and Alice Sanders, was born on 13 October 1933 in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC. Pete died on 20 August 2004 at the age of 70 at Watuaga Medical Center in Boone, Watauga Co., NC and was buried at White Springs Cemetery in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC on 22 August 2004.45517,45518,45519,45520

Mr. James Clarence “Pete” Coffey, 70, of 551 Chestnut Knob Trail, Blowing Rock, died Friday morning, Aug. 20, 2004, at the Watauga Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 13, 1933, in Caldwell County to the late Thomas Leroy and Alice Sanders Coffey.

Mr. Coffey was a retired sawmill owner and operator and a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Robin Coffey and wife, Teresa, of Blowing Rock, Rick Coffey and wife, Theresa, of Chilicothe, Ohio, and Sam Coffey and wife, Davina, of Cocoa, Fla.; one grandson, Dennis Coffey of Blowing Rock; three granddaughters, Heather Coffey of Blowing Rock and Samantha Coffey and Crystilyn Coffey, both of Cocoa, Fla.; and one sister, Mary Lois McCroskey of Blowing Rock.

He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and special friends, Sharon Townsend of Sugar Grove, R.D. and Elaine Hodges and family of Blowing Rock and Sheila and Jeff Robinette and family of Princeton, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Elizabeth Teague Coffey, three brothers, Clint Coffey, Floyd Coffey and Palmer Coffey, and four sisters, Nancy Pearson, Ethel Coffey, Edna Mae Rich and Opal Coffey.

Services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Bud Russell and Pastor Allan Blume. Burial followed in White Springs Cemetery in Blowing Rock.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Vernon Baptist Church Building Fund, 3505 Bamboo Road, Boone, N.C. 28607.

Hampton Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

BLOWING ROCK - Mr. James Clarence "Pete" Coffey, 70, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Boone. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
