She was born July 10, 1903, in Avery County to the late Richmond and Etta Hayes Coffey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Gragg; four brothers, Fred Coffey, Edgar Coffey, Dallas Coffey and Donald Coffey; and four sisters, Queen Gragg, Agnes Coffey, Ennis Coffey and Exie Coffey. Mrs. Gragg was a homemaker and a member of New Hopewell Baptist Church. Survivors include five daughters, Ruth Gragg and Irene McGuire, both of Lenoir, Ethel Johnson of Vilas, Aloma Osborne, of Blowing Rock and Rachel Norwood of Banner Elk; three sons, Rome Gragg of Waterford, Mich., Howard Gragg and Dallas Gragg, both of Blowing Rock; two sisters, Dollie Gragg of Lenoir and Neta Gragg of Hudson; 32 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren. The funeral is 2 p.m. today at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel in Boone with the Revs. Gary Gragg and Darrell Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Gragg Family Cemetery in Avery County.
