2292. Tilman A. Coffey was born on 7 October 1845 in Grainger Co., TN. He lived with his parents in Grainger Co., TN on 16 October 1850. He lived with his parents in Grainger Co., TN on 15 August 1860. Tilman lived with his parents in Grainger Co., TN on 15 August 1860. Tilman died on 24 April 1866 at the age of 20 in Rockcastle Co., KY and was buried at Merritt Cemetery in Wildie, Rockcastle Co., KY.^1194,8685

Tilman was killed by his brother-in-law, Walker Snodgrass over a goat which got loose and into the corn-crib. Tilman's story was he tied the goat up and told Ann if the goat was in the crib when he returned, she would answer to him. Ann's version is that the goat chewed it's way free . The Coffey's claimed Ann turned the goat free. When Tilman came home the goat was in the corn crib, so he roughed up Ann and she told her hot tempered younger brother Walker. Tilman and Walker had been best friends. Ann was an independent woman and was a good business woman. She owned considerable property in the Wildie, Rockcastle County, Kentucky area.

Tilman Coffey, b 7 Oct 1845, killed 24 Apr 1866, buried in Maret Cemetery between his father's brothers, Benjamin Coffey 1808-1867 and John Jackson "Jack" Coffey 1812 -1877. He married Harman Hayes' widow, Nancy Ann (Snodgrass) Hayes, born August 10, 1839, died March 26, 1927, buried in the Scaffold Cane Cemetery near Wildie, a double stone for her and her son, Bogie Phillips. Bogie was Nancy's child by her third husband, Isaac Phillips. She had three daughters by her earlier marriages. They all died young.

[Walker Snodgrass apparently escaped justice. He is found in 1870 Piatt Co., IL with wife Salina and daughter Amelia and, in 1880 Douglas Co., IL.]

Tilman A. Coffey and Nancy Ann Snodgrass were married about 1861. Nancy Ann Snodgrass⁸⁶⁸⁶, daughter of Calvin Snodgrass and Volicia Emaline Crawford, was born on 10 August 1839 in Kentucky. Nancy died in Rockcastle Co., KY on 18 March 1927 and was buried at Scaffold Cane Cemetery in Roundstone, Rockcastle Co., KY in March 1927 .^8687,8688
