He was a WWII veteran serving in the Navy Seabees in the Aleutian and Pacific islands. After the war he worked as a mechanic and a candy salesman. Bob was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Lawrenceville IL Shrine Club. Robert was the father of two daughters,two granddaughters, and one great grandson. Bob and his wife retired and moved from Lawrenceville to Florida in 1992. He died of lung cancer in Spring Hill and is buried alongside his wife in the Veterans section of this cemetery. [C. Jirsa] Robert Wesley Coffey and Dorothy Louise "Dottie" Burgoon were married on 4 November 1938. Dorothy was born in Petty Township, Lawrence Co, IL, the daughter of Floyd Edgar Burgoon and Jennie Lavina Drake. Dorothy's father died in an accident when she was only 18 months old. She was raised by her step father John Ira Waggoner and they lived in Petrolia, IL. Dorothy married Robert Wesley Coffey on Nov. 4, 1938. She was a homemaker and factory worker and lived in Lawrenceville IL for 28 years. Dorothy was the mother of two daughters, two granddaughters,and one great grandson. Her and her husband retired and moved to Florida in 1992. Dottie died in Largo, FL and is buried next to her husband in the veterans section of this cemetery. {C. Jirsa] |
