Margaret B. Coffey

Margaret Barlow Coffey, 56, of 221 Calico Road, Lenoir, died Wednesday at her residence. She was born April 19, 1935 in Caldwell County to the late Joseph and Ethel Ferguson Barlowe. Mrs. Coffey was a homemaker and a member of Confidence Advent Christian Church. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her husband, Max N. Coffey; one son, Donnie L. Coffey of Lenoir; two daughters, Mrs. David (Karen) Beane of Lenoir; Mrs. Doug (Wanda) Gilliam of Roanoke, Va.; three brothers, Paul Barlowe, Duluthe, Ga.; Perry Barlowe of Lenoir, and Frank Barlowe of Lenoir; five sisters, Hazel Griest of Arlington, Va.; Mabel Goodwin, Maryhill Maltba, Nancy Caldwell, Ola Hamby, all of Lenoir, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Confidence Church where the body will line in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The Rev. Bobby Brock will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Carswell, Ed Watson, Jerry Coffey, Earl Sanders, Grayson Beane and Allan Warren.

Mr. Coffey was employed as a welder at Kincaid Systems and owned Westside Metal Works. Survivors include one son, Jesse L. Coffey of Lenoir; two sisters, Karen Beane of Lenoir, and Wanda Gilliam and husband Douglas of Greensboro; and three nieces, Megan Hart and husband Christopher, Melissa Zima and husband Joseph, and Bailey Gilliam; and one great-niece, Nora Hart. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Confidence Advent Christian Church, 4040 Confidence Church Road, Lenoir, N.C. conducted by Rev. Norm Sherwood.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. one hour prior to the service at the church. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Tracy Hall, Eddie Carswell, Jeff Gragg, Mitchell Sides, Brian Hollar, Larry Ray Coffey, and David Miller.
