Mrs. Gladyce Hayes Teague, 88, of 233 Park Street, Boone, died Saturday evening, Oct.17, 2009, at Watauga Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 4, 1920 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Stewart Blaine Hayes and Esther Coffey Hayes.

Mrs. Teague was a retired inspector for Melville Shoe Plant and Trailway Laundry and Cleaners. She was a member of Westview Baptist Church.

Mrs. Teague is survived by one son, David G. Teague and wife, Carol, of Boone; one daughter, Bonnie T. Hamby and husband, Phil, of Lenoir; one granddaughter, Shannon Hamby of Lenoir; three grandsons, Mike Teague and wife, Nancy, of Boone, Chris Teague and wife, Karen, of Creedmore, N.C., and Shane Hamby of Lenoir; and two sisters, Addie Lewis of North Wilkesboro, and Snow Townsend of Boone. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Teague; one son, Dayton Teague; five sisters, Doyce Shore, Lucy Anderson, Vera Greer, Stella Hodges, and Wilma Hodges; and five brothers, Carl, Ray, Blaine, Edward, and Alton Hayes.

Services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 20, 2009, at 2:00 o'clock, at Westview Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 12:30 until 2:00 o'clock. Officiating will be the Rev. Zane Tester and the Rev. Burl Greer. Burial will follow in Westview Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon, from 12:30 until 2:00 o'clock, at the church, prior to the service. At other times, friends may call at the home of the son, David Teague, 481 Highland Avenue, Boone.

Gladys Isabell Hayes and Odell Orvall Teague were married on 6 August 1938 in Boone, Watauga Co., NC.⁴⁴⁸⁹⁷ Odell Orvall Teague, son of George David Teague and Naomi Hodges, was born on 15 June 1915 in North Carolina. Odell died of asphyxiation on 2 November 1975 at the age of 60 at home in Boone, Watauga Co., NC and was buried at Westview Baptist Church Cemetery in Boone, Watauga Co., NC on 4 November 1975.^{44898,44899,44900}
