Wade Stanley Coffey, 72, La Plata

Wade Stanley Coffey, 72 of La Plata, died at home on Thursday, July 10, 2003. Born November 13, 1930 in Boone, N. C. to the late Milton L. and Velma Viola Coffey, he was the owner of Coffey Lumber Company in La Plata for 40 years, as well as owner of Coffey Lumber Company in Dunkirk years ago..

He was also the owner of Montross Hardwoods in Montross, Va. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in White Plains. Coffey was the past president for Charles Co. Little League for many years, and was named Assistant Administrator for District 7 Little League. He was also an honorary life member of the Charles County Sheriff's Department.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Dorothy Elizabeth Griffith Coffey; sister, Junie Walker; and three brothers, Ronard, Adolphus, and M. L. Coffey. He is survived by his son, Stanley Lee Coffey; daughter , Mary Joanne Tayman; brother Otis Coffey of South Hill, Va.; sisters, Mozelle Beach of Hickory, N. C., Winnie Hartey, Reba Price, Wilma Horn, and Jeanette McNeil, all of Lenoir, N. C.; grandchildren, James Coffey, Clover and Crystal Tayman; and great-grandson, James Coffey, Jr.

Visitation was Sunday, July 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Chapel in La Plata. Funeral services were held on Monday, July 14, at 11 a.m., at the Raymond Funeral Chapel in La Plata, with the Rev. Tim Bean officiating. Interment was held at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf.

Pallbearers were James E. Hill, Fred Davis, Rob Cleaveland, Jr., Thomas A. Rymer, Jr., Chester Bowling, Sr., and Carter Hamlet. Honorary pallbearers were Thomas A. Rymer, Sr. and John Mudd.

Wade Stanley Coffey and Dorothy Elizabeth Griffiith were married on 27 December 1955 in Burke Co., NC.³⁰⁶⁵² Dorothy Elizabeth Griffiith was born in 1934. Dorothy died in La Plata, Charles Co., MD in 2000 and was buried at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, Charles Co., MD in 2000 .³⁰⁶⁵³
