Services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Boone Fork Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Mrs. Coffey is survived by her husband T. M. Coffey; one daughter, Mrs. W. O. (Velma) Perry of Hickory; one son, Jerry B. Coffey of Hickory; one step-daughter, Mrs. Sybil Davisd [sic] of Colton, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Herman (Hildred) Coffey of Blowing Rock; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Coffey,82, of 58 22nd Avenue Northwest, Hickory, a native and former resident of Watauga County, died Tuesday evening, April 3, 2012, at Hospice of Catawba County and Pallative Care Center in Newton. Mr. Coffey was born February 8, 1930, in Watauga County, a son of the late Charles C. Coffey and Leslie Church Coffey. He was a retired salesman for Highland Foam Company in Hickory and a member of of Highland Baptist Church in Hickory. Mr. Coffey served both in the United States Navy and United States Army. Mr. Coffey is survived by three sons, Barry Coffey and wife, Suzanne, of Richmond, Virginia, Ken Coffey and wife, Linda, and Mark Coffey and wife, Janet, all of Hickory; two granddaughters, Leslie Coffey Hammond and husband, Chris, of Richmond, Virginia, and Erin Coffey McConnell and husband, Jared, of Hickory; and three grandsons, Ian Coffey and wife, Pamela, of Richmond, Virginia, Justin Coffey of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Hunter Coffey of Hickory. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Corien Hatten Coffey; one granddaughter, Lauren Coffey; and one sister, Velma Knight. Funeral services for Jerry B. Coffey will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Homer Greene. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.
