Herbert died at Roan Highlands Nursing Center in Roan Mountain, Carter Co., TN on 6 February 2011. Herbert Hoover Gragg, age 82, of Maple Street, Elk Park passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at the Roan Highlands Nursing Center. He was born on August 1, 1928 in Avery County to the late Melvin and Bertie Holder Gragg. He was a Christian. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Barney, Arthur, and Everett; and his sisters, Mabel, Beulah, Eula, Esther, and Betty. Herbert was a charter member of the Avery County Rescue Squad and enjoyed auto mechanics and playing the guitar. Old fashioned bluegrass and country were his favorites. He owned and operated the Gragg Appliance Store in Elk Park for many years. He was a good husband, father, and grandfather, who leaves behind his wife, Ramona McCoury Gragg of the home; daughter, Janet Gragg Perry, and her special friend, John Brotherton, of Newland; grandchildren, Dylan and Rhiannon Brown; sister, Imogene Harris of Lenoir; brother, Claude Gragg, and his wife, Martha, of Blowing Rock; a special friend, Rod Jones of Elk Park; and a host of nieces and nephews.
