Mr. Philyaw was born June 17, 1946, in Caldwell County, to the late James and Toye Greene Philyaw. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Bowman Philyaw, of the home. Mr. Philyaw is a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard having served in Vietnam and the Gulf War. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Ruel Philyaw and infant sister, Virginia Dare Philyaw. Other than his wife, he is survived by his children; Tim Philyaw of Lenoir; Ginger and husband, Gilberto Cespedez of Lenoir; and Janet Holman of Lenoir; two brothers; Noel Philyaw of Hudson and James O. Philyaw of Collettsville; five grandchildren; Sarah Harding, Ashley Philyaw, Ethin Cespedez-Philyaw, Zachary Cespedez-Philyaw, and Jordan Holman. A celebration of Mr. Philyaw's life will be held Sunday, June 6, 2010, at 3:00P.M., in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service. Interment will follow the service in the Greene Family Cemetery in Collettsville. Pallbearers for Mr. Philyaw will be Gilberto Cespedez, Hilario Vite, Jerry Bowman, J.B. Greene, Donald Poarch, and Jason Smargian. |
