Frank Edwin ‘Chief’ Hollander

Mr. Frank Edwin “Chief” Hollander, 77, of Lenoir, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at his residence.

He was born July 24, 1929 in Avery County to the late John Bunyon and Lettie Coffey Hollander.

Mr. Hollander was retired from Tomlinson Plumbing and a veteran of the U.S. Army and the National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Clark Hollander; one son, Edwin Guy Hollander of Lawerenceburg, Ky.; two daughters, Mrs. Cynthia Hicks and husband, Leon, and Mrs. Carol Hamilton and husband, Ron, all of Lenoir; one brother, Nick Hollander of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Gustie Hedrick of Troutville, Va. and Mrs. Mamie Conkel of Logan, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Lockie Rominger and Mrs. Callie Foster; four brothers, Paul Coffey, Mack Coffey, Roadman Hollander and Ivory Hollander.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Park conducted by the Rev. Danny Rominger. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:45-1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, N.C. 28645.

Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Frank is not found with the family in the 1930 census. The last Hollander child enumerated was named William, age 9 months.
