Miss Dellinger was born April 15, 1915 in Avery County, a daughter of the late Samuel Thomas Dellinger, Sr. and Julie Coffey Dellinger. She was a retired employee of Clarence Newton Nursery and a homemaker. Miss Dellinger is survived by one brother, Samuel Dellinger, Jr. and wife Jeanie "Dot" of Lenoir. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Dellinger and Ida Greer, and five brothers, Edward, Robert, Thomas, John, and Bobby Dellinger. Funeral services for Viola Dellinger will be conducted Tuesday morning, November 15, 2011, at 11:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 10:00 until 11:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Reverend Jack D. Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning, from 10:00 until 11:00 o'clock, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
