Delana Hatley McCroskey “Mannie”, age 94, of Lenoir, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born June 17, 1915 in Caldwell County, Mrs. McCroskey was a daughter of the late Jackson and Drucilla Phillips Hatley and the wife of the late Lawrence Edward McCroskey. She was of the Christian faith and was a homemaker who enjoyed flowers and animals. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Edward Dean McCroskey and Anna Lee Powers and 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by one daughter, Pansy Lee Barbor of West Virginia; one daughter-in-law, Ruby McCroskey of Lenoir; six Grandchildren, Richard D. McCroskey and wife Debbie of Lenoir; Tony Wayne McCroskey and wife Carrie of Hudson; Laura Curtis and husband John of Lenoir; Misty Powers of Princeton, WVA; Rhonda Biondi of Jacksonville, FL; Lisha Byrd and husband Danny of West Virginia; 10 Great-Grandchildren; Wesley Bumgarner, Delana McCroskey, Taylor McCroskey, Johnathon Curtis, Kaitlin Curtis, Roxanna Powers, Christopher Finley, Gracie Finley, Jordan Byrd, Cassidy Byrd and two Great-Great-Grandchildren, Zachery and Tyler Bumgarner. A celebration of Mrs. McCroskey’s life will be held Graveside at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, May 15, 2010 in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. Rick Crouse officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM at Evans Funeral Service.
