Woman Charged with Husband's Death Blowing Rock, N.C. (AP) - The 36-year-old mother of three young girls has been charged with murder in the Sunday morning rifle slaying of her husband, Jerry Baxter Coffey, 49. Mrs. Geneive [sic] Coffey was arrested after one of the girls telephoned police to report a shooting incident at their home near Blowing Rock. Officers said Coffey was shot in the chest with a .22-caliber rifle. Watauga County sheriff's deputies and Blowing Rock police were sent to the Coffey home at 1:07 a.m. to quiet a disturbance, police said, Officers said they sent several persons away and left the Coffey's residence. A spokesman said one of the children called about an hour later to report the fatal shooting. The Coffey daughters are aged 6, 8, and 13. An investigation continued Sunday. Jerry Baxter Coffey and Genevieve Suma Hodges were married. Genevieve Suma Hodges, daughter of Dallas William Hodges and Agnes Shear(?) Miller, was born on 28 March 1936 in Watauga Co., NC.7171 She lived with her parents in Watauga, Blue Ridge Twp., Watauga Co., NC on 5 April 1940.
