Omie Coffey

Omie W. Coffey, 81, formerly of Miller Road, Pottstown, Pa., passed away Friday, June 3, 2005, in Zerbe Sisters Nursing Home, Narvon, Pa. She was the widow of the late Willie "Bill" M. Coffey.

Born in Lenoir, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Windom and Vinie Gragg.

Mrs. Coffey was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, sewing, traveling, crafts, gardening and listening to country gospel music.

Surviving are four sons, William Coffey of Calabash, N.C., Ray Coffey of Douglassville, Pa., Tracy Coffey of Houston, Texas, and Gary Coffey of Morgantown, Pa.; three daughters, Barbara Rodey of Kabul, Afghanistan, and Las Placitas, N.M., Brenda Coffey of Kluhsman or Hershey, Pa., and Karen Ridge of Reading, Pa.; one brother, Gene Gragg of Lenoir, N.C.; seven sisters, Thelma Caldwell of Conover, N.C., Nelda Green, Carolyn Poteat, Ruby Crisp and Janice Smith, all of Lenoir, N.C., Mildred Ivey of Monticello, Ga., Ruth Houston of Hickory, N.C.; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday, June 11, 2005, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul L. Jones officiating. Relatives and friends will be received from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, June 11 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Pottstown, Pa. 19465.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gittlen Cancer Research Institute, 4331 S. Victoria Way, Harrisburg, PA 17112 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 501 Washington St., Reading, PA 19605.

Oma Wilma Gragg and William Martin "Willie" Coffey were married on 21 May 1940 in Carter Co., TN.³⁶¹⁶² William Martin "Willie" Coffey, son of John Sherman Coffey and Buena Vista Coffey, was born on 17 May 1920 in Avery Co., NC.³⁶¹⁶⁰ William died in Pottstown, Chester Co., PA on 20 August 2002 and was buried at Mount Zion Cemetery and Mausoleum in Pottstown, Chester Co., PA in August 2002 .³⁶¹⁶¹
