Coffey, 64, of 110 Meetinghouse Lane, Ledyard, Conn., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London. Bill married Stephanie Bustamante in Montville in October of 1987. She died on Aug. 2, 2007. A Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, Bill was very proud of his two tours of duty there. For many years, he had worked as an electrician in the local area, the last six years at the Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. in Uncasville. Besides his mother, survivors include three daughters, Tammy Buettner of Severna Park, Md., Cindy Coffey of Arkansas, Andrea Coffey of DuPont, Pa.; a step-daughter, Christine Foular of Ledyard; four step-sons, Richard Bustamante of Norwich, Stephen Bustamante of Ellington, Christopher Bustamante of Ledyard, and Jason Bustamante of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four sisters, Wanda Reid of Hudson, N.C., Sharon Beck of Waterford, Debra Paskewich of New London, and Sheila Muscella of Quaker Hill; and 15 grandchildren. Visiting hours were held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening, Dec. 27, 2007, at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London, with a memorial service at 6 p.m. At his request, burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Byles Memorial Home in New London, Conn., were in charge of arrangements. She was born in New London on Oct. 30, 1948, the daughter of Warren L. and Gertrude Congdon Smith. Stephanie married William R. Coffey in Montville in October 1987. She worked as clinical manager at the Naval Health Care Center in Newport, R.I., and was a member of the auxiliary to the Mystic Post Veterans of Foreign Wars. Besides her husband she is survived by four sons, Richard Bustamante of Norwich, Stephen Bustamante of Ellington, Christopher Bustamante of Ledyard and Jason Bustamante of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a daughter, Christine Foular of Ledyard; two brothers, Roger Smith of Waterford and Warren “Chip” Smith of Ledyard; three sisters, Kathleen Smith of Waterford, Cheryl Person of Walla Walla, Wash., and Maria Penn of New London; and 15 grandchildren.
