Obituary, Hickory Record, Jun. 25, 2010 Frances Coffey Hartley GRANITE FALLS - Frances Coffey Hartley, 87, of Lenoir, passed away Monday, June 21, 2010, at Brian Center of Hickory Viewmont. She was born March 3, 1923, in Caldwell County to the late Robert Lawrence Coffey and Lula Hart Coffey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Foke L. Hartley; two daughters, Thelma Hartley and Mavis Ann Hartley; two sons, Doyle Hartley and Gene Hartley; one sister, Ruth Prestwood; three brothers, Oscar Coffey, Lemuel Coffey and Lawrence Coffey. Mrs. Hartley was a member of Baton Baptist Church. Survivors include son, Robert Hartley of Hildebran; daughter, Helen McCracken of Hudson; son, Walter Hartley and wife, Darlene, of Granite Falls; daughter, Edna Smith and husband, Randall, of Granite Falls; son, Joe Hartley and wife, Linda, of Hudson; daughter, Wilma Stewart and husband, Jim, of Lucusville, Ohio; daughters-in-law, Melody Hartley of Wendell and Diane Hartley of Hudson; one brother, Daniel Coffey of Kure Beach; four sisters, Florence Prestwood of Lenoir, Mrs. Clyde W. (Alice) Smith Jr. of Millers Creek, Mrs. Paul (Grace) Spears of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sara Stone of Lenoir; 13 grandchildren; 18 great- grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at 3 p.m. at Baton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roger Park and the Rev. John Mayo officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the memorial service at the church. Foke Lenoir Hartley, son of George Sidney Hartley and Callie Bentley, was born on 2 April 1922 in Patterson Twp., Caldwell Co., NC.7225 He lived with his parents in Patterson Twp., Caldwell Co., NC on 14 May 1940.
