She was born March 8, 1904, in Avery County to the late Richmond and Etta Mae Hayes Coffey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil C. Gragg; four sons, Homer Gragg, Troy Gragg, Richard Gragg and Lockwood Gragg; a daughter, Jessie St. Clair and two grandsons, Jack and Mike Greene. Mrs. Gragg was a homemaker and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Arvil and Ann Gragg of Newport News, Virginia, Charles and Winnie Gragg of Patterson, Kenneth and Doris Gragg of Abilene, Texas, and Tony and Cathy Gragg of Lenoir; 27 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 2, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jerry Reeves. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be: Gary Gragg, Eddie Gragg, Allen Gragg, Kevin Gragg, Dennis Gragg, Jonathan Gragg and Joseph Gragg.
