11974. Beverly Allena Gragg was born on 5 October 1926 in Globe Twp., Caldwell Co., NC.³⁴⁶¹⁹ She lived with her parents in Globe Twp., Caldwell Co., NC on 14 April 1930. Beverly died on 14 January 2012 at the age of 85 at Charles A. Cannon Jr. Memorial Hospital in Linville Twp., Avery Co., NC and was buried at Stamey Family Cemetery in Crossnore, Altamont Twp., Avery Co., NC.³⁴⁶²⁰

Beverly Gragg Ollis passed away on the morning of January 14, 2012 after a long illness at Cannon Hospital, Linville, North Carolina. 

She was the wife of L. Guy Ollis who passed in 2007 

Beverly was born on October 5, 1926 in Globe Township, Caldwell County, North Carolina. A daughter of the late William Henderson Gragg and Mary Etta Coffey Gragg. She grew up in the Shulls Mill section of Watauga County and Colletsville section of Caldwell County. 

After high school she attended Crossnore Business School, where she met her future husband. Her first job was as a secretary for Jim Broyhill of Broyhill Furniture. 

Beverly was a long time member of Big Meadows Baptist Church. 

She and Guy were married on May 28, 1945, living first in Caldwell County and then moving to Avery County in 1947. They lived in Stameytown community until 1980, and then moved to the Altamont community. The marriage lasted until Mr. Ollis’ passing. 

Mrs. Ollis was a stay at home mom until her children were in school, then entering the workforce in the local hosiery mills. After her children had left home she decided to return to school, attending Mayland Community College, graduating as an LPN from their inaugural class. She worked at various hospitals in the area and did private duty nursing until her retirement. 

She loved to do gardening, quilting and visiting her friends at the senior center as long as her health permitted. 

Preceding Mrs. Ollis in death other than her parents and husband was her son Thomas Lloyd Ollis (1982) two grandchildren Sylvia and Cynthia (1966). Brothers; William Thurman Gragg (1977), Frank Albert (John) Gragg (1936), Radford Calton Gragg (1983) and Glenn Arthur Gragg (1987). Sisters; Violet Jordan (1991), Mildred Lutman (1973), Flossie Reeser (1995). 

Survivors include her sister Iva Lee Oakes of Banner Elk and brother Robert Hoover Gragg of Ohio. Daughters Beverly Ann Smith and husband Gene of Shallotte, North Carolina, Werdna Jo Rouse and husband Don of Stameytown. Sons Clay Ollis of McDowell County and Doyle Ollis and wife Carol of Telford, Tennessee. Fifteen grandchildren and twenty seven great grandchildren. Two step grandchildren and one step great grandchild. 

Services for Mrs. Beverly Gragg Ollis will be Monday, January 16th 11:00 a.m. in the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with Mr. Jim Greene officiating. Interment will follow in the Stamey Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 15th from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thomas Ollis Memorial Nursing Scholarship C/O Mayland Community College.

Beverly Allena Gragg and Lloyd Guy Ollis were married on 28 May 1945 in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC.³⁴⁶²¹ Lloyd Guy Ollis, son of Baxter Glenathan Ollis and Maude Stamey, was born circa 1925 in North Carolina. Lloyd died in Newland, Avery Co., NC on 13 September 2007 and was buried at Stameytown Cemetery in Newland, Avery Co., NC in September 2007 .³⁴⁶²²
