Mr. Coffey was born in Caldwell County to the late Monroe Coffey and Dovie Clark Coffey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Huffman Coffey; two brothers and a sister. He loved the great outdoors. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from the furniture industry. Survivors include a son, Frederick Coffey of Boone; a grandson, Anthony Coffey of New York; three sisters, Louise Steele of Hudson, Blanche Garren and her husband Bill of Lenoir, and Nell Mize of Georgia. He also is survived by numerous other relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with the Rev. Ashley Gragg officiating.
