SARAH PYRON SETLIFF DAY

REIDSVILLE— Sarah Pyron Setliff Day, 83, of 1333 Cotswald Terrace, died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Annie Penn Hospital.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Congregational Christian Church, where she was a longtime member. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

A native of Eden (Leaksville), she was born on Oct. 21, 1921, to the late James C. Pyron and Freda Venske Pyron. She was educated at Appalachian State University and UNC Greensboro, where she received a master's degree in school guidance. Throughout her 37 years of teaching, she taught at Ruffin High School, special education at Franklin Street School and retired as a guidance counselor at Reidsville Junior High. She also served as a member of the Reidsville School Board and as a trustee at Rockingham Community College. She was a member of NCAE, serving one year as president of the organization and volunteered for many years at Annie Penn Hospital. She taught Sunday school at First Congregational Christian Church, where she served on many committees. She was a member of DAR and Alpha Delta Kappa teacher's sorority.

Sarah was preceded in death by a husband, Drury F. Setliff and a sister, Marie Pyron Vaughn.

She is survived by her husband, Obed O. Day of the Carolina House; son James C. Setliff and wife Linda of Reidsville; daughter Deborah McDaniel and husband Buster of Ruffin; grandchildren, Jill Walsh and husband Rob of Greensboro, Brian Setliff and wife Caroline of Raleigh and Mike Wall and Tracy Wall of Reidsville; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Zachary Walsh and Rivers Setliff; brothers, Jimmy Pyron of Eden and George Pyron of Stoneville; sisters, Bertha Mae Pyron Robertson of Eden and Patricia Pyron Smith of Reidsville; stepson Glenn A. Day of Massapequa, N.Y.; and stepdaughter Beverly Day of California; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Jimmy and Linda Setliff at 1103 Cypress Drive, Reidsville and Deborah and Buster McDaniel of 823 Worsham Mill Road, Ruffin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Congregational Christian Church, 1863 South Park Drive, Reidsville, NC 27320.
