Main St., died Thursday night in High Point Memorial Hospital. Funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the English Street Baptist Church. Survivors are husband; sons, T. Sgt. "Becky" "Aunt Jo" Yow Whitaker Coffey, 91, of Pleasant Garden, passed to Heaven on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Clapps Assisted Living. Born April 21, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Colon A. Yow and Alice Myrick Yow; the last survivor of eight girls and three boys. Aunt Jo lived in Guilford County her entire life and was an active member of Community Baptist Church in Greensboro. She retired from Sears in 1985. She enjoyed travelling, working in her garden and flowers, and feeding and watching birds. She cared about her friends and neighbors, and was always willing to help others in a time of need. Aunt Jo is survived by a daughter Barbara Mullins; son, "Hoppy" Whitaker and wife, Martha; stepson, Larry Coffey and wife, Kelly; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a special friend, Faye Mitchell. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Community Baptist Church, 1330 Burnetts Chapel Rd., in Greensboro, officiated by Rev. J.R. Gossett and Rev. Chris Davis. A private interment will be in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 4 until 7 at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale and other times at the home of Pat Millis, 5705 Drake Rd., in Greensboro.
