Flora Branscum Coffey, age 94 years, of Stearns, Kentucky died Saturday January 29, 2011 in Somerset, Kentucky at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday February 2, 2011 at 2pm in the McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Vaughn officiating. Burial was in the Corder Cemetery.
She was born in Wayne County, Kentucky on January 18, 1917 the daughter of the late Eulis and Lizzie (Thompson) Branscum. She was a homemaker and a member of the East Appletree United Baptist Church.
Her parents, husband Leroy Coffey, son Randy Ray Coffey, daughter Rose Lee, brothers Harvey Branscum, Hartman Branscum, Robert Branscum, Edmon Branscum, Wilburn Branscum, Eli, Branscum, and sisters Bertha Phillips, Nellie Waters, Frona Coffey, and Dora Branscum precede her in death.
Survivors include sons Bobby Coffey and wife Judy of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Melvin Coffey, Alfred Coffey, Milford Coffey, and Othel Coffey all of Stearns, Kentucky, daughters Hazel Strunk and husband Charlie of Stearns, Kentucky, Martha Taylor and husband William of Whitley City, Kentucky, Betty Ann Coffey, Merk Smith Opal Mae Coffey all of Stearns, Kentucky, and brothers Kelly Branscum and Naaman Branscum both of Sydney, Ohio. Eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a daughter in law Ada Barnett Coffey also survive.
