Randy was born Sept. 24, 1957 in Catawba County to Ruth Simmons Cook and the late biological father, Ronald Harding Coffey. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Shane A. Cook; paternal grandparents, Fred and Nellie Coffey; maternal grandparents, Craig and Ila Simmons and James and Faye Cook; aunts, Nora Lee Lail and Patricia Sigmon; uncle, McCoy Simmons; cousins, Chris Lafone and Teresa Gibson; and his best friend and pet, Raven. He was a member of Winkler's Grove Baptist Church and employed by Bradington-Young Furniture. Surviving are his mother and father, Ruth and Larry Cook of Hildebran; daughters, Leslie Coffey of Hickory and Kristin Coffey Williams and husband, Cleve of Seaside, Calif.; fianc‚e, Becky Martin and her children, Garrett, Gavin and Grant of Hickory; brothers, Craig Leon Cook and wife, Nikki of Connelly Spring, David Cook and wife, Terri of Bethlehem and Eric Brieno and wife, Terra of Connelly Springs; sister, Terri Hoke and husband, Buster of Hickory; god parents, Ray and Betty Smith of Hickory; granddaughters, Penelope Williams of Seaside, Calif., and Emmeri Hanna of Hickory; grandson, Carson Williams of Seaside, Calif.; aunts and uncles, Tony and Kay Lafone of Hickory and Judy and Jack Cole of Hickory; special mother-in-law, Edna Hopper of Hickory; cousins, Mike and Brandi McKinney of Greensboro and Andy and Tiffani Bolick of Hickory; a number of nieces and nephews and all of his Harley Davidson friends. Services will be Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Faulkenbury officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Springs Cemetery.
