B. A. Coffey, 80 years, 6 1/2 months old, a native of Russell County, passed away at his home near Russell Springs, Kentucky, Sunday, June 24, at 2:00 A. M.

He professed faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Methodist church.

August 17, 1889 he was united in marriage to Rosa Sloan Powell. To this union were born ten children, four preceding him in death.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, six children, Robert, Loren, Otto and Bradford Coffey of Odell, Illinois, Oscar Coffey of Dwight, Illinois and Mrs. Alvin Antle of Russell Springs. Also nice grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral was held June 25 at Mt. Pleasant church with Bro. Otha Lee Popplewell in charge, assisted by Bro. Black.

Rittetoe Funeral Homes of Russell Springs had charge of all arrangements.

Bryant and Rosa lived with their son-in-law Alvin Antle in Russell Co., KY on 3 April 1940. Rosa Sloan Powell was born on 17 October 1870 in Wayne Co., KY. Rosa died in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY on 3 February 1954 and was buried at Coffey Cemetery in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY on 5 February 1954 .3696

Mrs. Rosa S. Coffey, 83, widow of the late B. A. Coffey, died Wednesday, February 3, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alvin Antle, in Russell Springs.

She and Mr. Coffey were married in 1889, and to this union ten children were born. He husband and four children preceded her in death, leaving the following children surviving: R. A. Coffey of Cullom, Ill., Mrs. Crina [sic] Antle of Russell Springs, Oscar Coffey of Streator, Ill., Loren Coffey of Sano, Otta [sic] Coffey of Odell, Ill., and Bradford Coffey of Cullom, Ill. Also surviving are a brother, Mr. Cundiff Powell of Crestwood, Ky., and two sisters, Mrs. Georgia Potter of Somerset and Mrs. Everette Robertson of Danville. Mrs. Coffey was a sister of Mrs. J. P. Gaskin who passed away several years ago.

Mrs. Coffey was a devoted and true Christian woman, and her life was an inspiring example to all those around her. The last sad rites were held Friday afternoon at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Otha Lee Popplewell and Rev. J. F. Black. Burial was in the family cemetery, with Rippetoe Funeral Home in charge of Arrangements.

Bradford Powell Coffey was born on 28 March 1915 in Kentucky. Bradford was a farm laborer residing with the Amos H. Verdun family in Nevada Twp., Livingston Co., IL on 15 April 1940. Bradford enlisted in the US Army on 10 February 1941 at Chicago, Cook Co., IL.3697 Bradford died in Pontiac, Livingston Co., IL on 11 November 1955 in an automobile accident and was buried at Coffey Cemetery in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY in November 1955 .3698

Bradford Coffey, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Coffey, was killed in an automobile accident near Pontiac, Ill., on Friday, November 11. He was 40 years of age.

Surviving are four brothers and a sister - Robert Coffey of Cullum, Ill., Otto Coffey of Odell, Ill., Oscar Coffey of Long Point, Ill., Loren Coffey of Columbia, Ky., and Mrs. Crenie [sic] Antle of Russell Springs.

Bradford entered the U. S. Army in February, 1941, and served in Alaska 48 months and was honorably discharged in June, 1945. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at the time of his death.

The body was returned from Pontiac, Ill., by Rippetoe Funeral Home, and on Monday afternoon at Mr. Pleasant Church the sad rites were held, conducted by Bro. Otha Lee Popplewell. Russell Springs Post No. 216, American Legion, honored him with a military funeral.

Burial was in the family cemetery, with Rippetoe Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
