Coffey died on 5 December 1974 at the age of 61 in Lexington, Fayette Co., KY and was buried at Pine Knot Cemetery in Pine Knot, McCreary Co., KY.^26810,26811

Rev, Walter Othel Coffey, 61, a resident of Pine Knot, died Thursday, Dec. 5, in University Hospital, Lexington, Ky., after an illness of three months.

The son of Captain Coffey and Lettie McBride Coffey, both deceased, he was born at Oneida, Tenn., March 26, 1913. He lived most of his life in McCreary County, was a coal miner and an ordained minister in the Free Will Baptist Church. He was a member of the Pine Knot Free Will Baptist Church, and Orie S. Ware Lodge 874, F & AM.

He was united in marriage to Mamie Matilda Baltimore at Cooperative, Ky., Aug. 12, 1932, and she survives.

Surviving, besides his wife, are four daughters, Mrs. Joyce Collins, Mrs. Shelba Kierstead and Donna Sue Coffey, all of Pine Knot. Mrs. Phyllis Huckaby, Russell Springs, Ky.; three sons, Charles and Ronnie Coffey, Pine Knot, and Johnny Coffey, Stearns; one brother, John Coffey, Oneida, Tenn., two sisters, Mrs. Ada Lewis and Mrs. Maude Davis, both of Oneida; and six grand-children. A daughter, Patricia Coffey, preceded her father in death.

Masonic services were held Saturday night at 8 o'clock in the funeral home chapel.

The Rev. Bill Childress, Rev. Edgar Baltimore and Rev. Luther Baltimore conducted funeral services Sunday in the Free Will Baptist Church, Pine Knot, at 1 p.m.

Hickman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Walter Othel Coffey and Mamie Maltida Baltimore were married on 12 August 1932 in Co-Operative, McCreary Co., KY. They appeared in the census on 18 May 1940 in McCreary Co., KY.²⁶⁸¹² Mamie Maltida Baltimore, daughter of Benjamin Edgar Baltimore and Mamie Lou Donelson, was born on 22 April 1915 in Sparta, White Co., TN. Mamie died in Pine Knot, McCreary Co., KY on 15 January 1986 and was buried at Pine Knot Cemetery in Pine Knot, McCreary Co., KY in January 1986 .^26813,26814

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 21, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the Freewill Baptist Church in Pine Knot with Rev. Eddie King officiating. Music was provided by Bill Stephens and Company. Burial was at the Pine Knot Cemetery. Born October 12, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Walter Othel and Mamie Matilda Baltimore Coffey. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers Johnny and Ronnie Coffey and a sister Patricia Coffey. Surviving family include two daughters Theresa (and Fenton) Stephens of Powell, Tennessee, and Sherri (and Mark) Hasson of Louisville. There are three sisters Shelba Kierstead of Pine Knot, Phyllis Huckaby of Russell Springs, Kentucky, Donna Thomas of Charleston, South Carolina, and a brother Charles Coffey of LaGrange, Kentucky. Joyce had six grandchildren and a great great-grandson. She was a homemaker and member of the Pine Knot Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, traveling, and reading the Bible. But most importantly, she cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren. Pine Knot Funeral Home assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
