He was employed at Broyhill Furniture and was of Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his father Thomas N. Coffey and mother Ella Mae Loudermilk Coffey, 15 brothers and sisters. Mr. Coffey is survived by his wife, Ruby Grace Coffey; four sons, John Thomas Coffey, Danny Ray Coffey, Larry Wayne Coffey and wife Kathy and Robert Scott Coffey and wife Deanna, all of Lenoir; three daughters, Carrie Mae Katosh and husband Paul and Rebecca Diane and husband Kelly Graham, and Michelle Chester, all of Lenoir; a brother, Clinton Coffey of Lenoir and a sister, Dolly Coffey and husband Dayton of Asheboro. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild. John was always known as “Big John” and “Tootie Fruity” and was well-known and liked in the community. We will miss our beloved father and friend. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Pendry's Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held Monday, June 12 at 4 p.m. at White Springs Cemetery in Blowing Rock. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Adams, Mark Adams, Billy Clontz, Zack Coffey, Donald Shatley, Paul Katosh and George Pittman. Memorials may be sent to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645. Pendry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements for the Coffey family.
