Pettijohn, 94, of Gosport, died Monday at Heritage House in Martinsville. Born Feb. 1, 1905, in Hendricksville, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary Ann (Hendricks) Coffey. She was a homemaker and member of Gosport Baptist Church and Eureka Club. Survivors include two sons, Merle Pettijohn Jr. of Terre Haute and Marion Pettijohn of Greenfield; one brother, Wallace Coffey of Dale; two sisters, Dorothy Burton of Washington and Bernice Watkins of Gosport; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Pettijohn Sr.; one son, Donald Pettijohn; one sister and three brothers; and one grandson. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Whitaker Funeral Home in Gosport with the Rev. Norman Able officiating. Burial will be at Gosport Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
