Roy E. Coffey, 85, of Buena Vista, died Thursday, Aug. 21, at his home.

He was born Sept. 23, 1911, in Rockbridge County, son of the late Lafayette Washington Coffey and Annie Mariah Ward Coffey. He was married to Margaret Wiseman Coffey and was a member of Stone Church of the Brethren. He was a retired farmer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara Coffey Crissman of Clifton Forge; three sons, Roy E. Coffey Jr., Morris Alvin Coffey and Keith S. Coffey, all of Buena Vista; two sisters, Catherine Long of Buena Vista and Ruby Gilbert of Middlebrook; a brother, Herbert Coffey of Buena Vista; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Sunday at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Chester Fisher. Burial followed at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made of Rockbridge Area Hospice or the Stone Church of the Brethren in Buena Vista.
