James Seldon Wright, Sr., a native and former resident of Blowing Rock, died Sunday, May 13, at his home in Boise, Idaho.

Mr. Wright was born January 9, 1917, a son of the late Thomas Lemuel and Sarah Bragg Wright. He was retired from Morrison Knudsen, a worldwide construction company.

He is survived by his wife, Amapola Wright, of the home; three daughters, Margo Jimenz and husband, Lynchie, of Boise; Eileen Wright and husband, Patrick Ebright of Santa Ana, California; and Louise Wright Absher and husband, Jerry, of Blowing Rock; one son James Seldon Wright, Jr. and wife, Betty, of Blowing Rock; ten grandchildren and five great grand-children; two brothers, Thomas Jack Wright of Landover Hills, Maryland and Graham Wright, and wife, Mary Lou, of Appalachin, New York; and one uncle, Cabel Bragg of McChanicsville, Maryland.

Private services for the family were held this week in Boise, Idaho.

Summers Funeral Home of Boise was in charge of the arrangements.

James Seldon "Seldon" Wright and Hazel Louise Moody were married on 21 October 1933 in Johnson Co., TN.³⁶⁶¹⁷ They³⁶⁶¹⁷ were divorced before 22 September 1948. Hazel Louise Moody, daughter of Arthur Columbus Moody and Rhoda Marticia Estes, was born on 18 April 1916 in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC. Hazel died on 18 December 2009 at the age of 93 at Watuaga Medical Center in Boone, Watauga Co., NC and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC on 21 December 2009.³⁶⁶¹⁸

Ms. Hazel Moody Wright Hayes, 93, of Wallingford Street, Blowing Rock, died Friday afternoon, Dec. 18, 2009 at Watauga Medical Center.

She was born April 18, 1916 in Blowing Rock, to Arthur Columbus and Marticia Estes Moody.

Ms. Hayes was a member of Sandy Flat Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Louise Wright Absher and husband, Jerry, and Abby Hazel Hayes, all of Blowing Rock; two sons, James Wright and wife, Betty, of Blowing Rock and Rev. Rudy Albert Hayes and wife, Becky, of Hickory; one sister, Shirley Moody Henson of Boone; one brother, Jack Moody and wife, Eula Mae, of Lenoir; and 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Estes, Comie Tharrington, and an infant; and four brothers, A. C., Merl, Reece and Ivan Moody.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, Dec.21, 2009, at 1 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Rudy Hayes. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:00 until 1 o'clock, prior to services, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock.
