Charley never married. He had a son out of wedlock with his maternal aunt, Jessie Coffey.

Charley Welch and Jessie Coffey had a liaison which produced the child Paul. Jessie Coffey, daughter of Jasper Newton Coffey and Rutha (Lucy?) Jane Shell, was born on 29 December 1901 in Texas. She lived with her parents in Wilson Twp., Atoka Co., OK on 17 May 1910. She lived with her brother in Stringtown, Atoka Co., OK on 16 January 1920. Jessie lived with her brother Stokley in Lewis Twp., Atoka Co., OK on 11 April 1930. Jessie died on 6 July 1978 at the age of 76 in Oklahoma and was buried at Tushka Cemetery in Tushka, Atoka Co., OK.²²⁴⁸⁹
