COFFEY LENOIR - Mabel Margaret Coffey, 79, of Early Place, Grandin Road, Lenoir, our loving mother, grandmother and friend to many, went Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, to meet her Heavenly Father. She was born Feb. 12, 1926, in Caldwell County to the late Carl and Bertha Ward Lackey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ivey Coffey; two sons, Duke and Robert Coffey; two granddaughters, Holly Coffey and Erica Coffey; and two brothers, Joe Lackey and Bobby Lackey. Mrs. Coffey was retired from Broyhill Furniture Industries and was a member of Grandin Baptist Church. Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Gathor Carl “Bud” and Barbara Coffey of Hickory, Bruce Edward and Nancy Coffey and Julius “Jude” A. and Alline Coffey, all of Lenoir, Bill S. and Doris Coffey of Granite Falls and Timothy “Tater” S. and Robin Coffey of Maiden; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mrs. Donna and William Church of Lenoir, Mrs. Pam and Jimmy Pennington of Maiden and Ms. Judi Clarizio of Greensboro; a brother, Johnny Lackey of Lenoir; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Hinson and Mrs. Ada Laws, both of Lenoir; 22 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Grandin Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. R.J. Lovins. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends tonight, Wednesday evening, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family also will receive friends at the home of Bill Coffey, 5621 Liberty Road, Dry Ponds Road, Granite Falls. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons and grandsons. Memorial contributions may be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St., NW, Lenoir, N.C. 28645.
