George Washington Bryant, of Waynesboro, died Nov. 3, in Phoenix, Ariz., where he had gone for his health. He had been there weeks, and died after an extended illness.

He was born July 18, 1883, in Nelson County, son of the late George W. and Savannah Coffey Bryant.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna Barringer Bryant, four sons, Gordon, Stuarts Draft; Houston, Charlottesville; John, with the U. S. Army in Germany; five daughters, Mrs. Laura Arnold, Waynesboro; Mrs. Elizabeth Tedder, Pera; Mrs. Louise Tinsley, Baltimore, Md.; Mrs. Frances Conner, Stuarts Draft; and Mrs. Thelma Conner, Waynesboro. Also, two sisters, Mrs. Frances Stump and Miss Janie Bryant, both of Waynesboro; one brother, Henry, Natural Bridge; and 19 grandchildren.

The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home until the hour of service. Services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Lyndhurst Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Driver, assisted by the Rev. Charles Grove. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Harry Brown, Maslin Brown, Gordon Hunter, Bryant Fitzgerald, David Grove, and Sidney Shirley.

Honorary pallbearers will be A. Bussey, "Hillbilly" Bryant, Lurty Madison, Lurty Diehl, Harry Patterson, O. B. Turner and Elwood Hyden.

George Washington Bryant and Edna B. Barringer were married on 28 August 1904 in Handley, Kanawha Co., WV.¹⁴⁸⁷¹ Edna B. Barringer was born in 1888 in Virginia. Edna died in Virginia in 1978 and was buried at Lyndhurst United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lyndhurst, Augusta Co., VA in 1978 .¹⁴⁸⁷²
